She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 of her 4 siblings (Mariano, Juan, and Anita), her son-in-law Jim, and the love of her life, her husband of 55 years, Sherman Wayne Renfro. She is survived by her only daughter Ann Hughey, her sister Angela Arrendale, 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and so many others who loved her deeply. A Celebration of her Life is being held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 2 pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home located at 7100 Crowley Rd., Fort Worth, TX 76134. Moving from Missouri to Texas at an early age, Carmen and her family settled in Aubrey, becoming some of the first Hispanic residents of Denton County. As a young woman, she moved to Fort Worth and attended business school, working for an insurance company, and then beginning her career at Convair. There she met her beloved husband Sherman. She had a long career at Convair retiring from there during the time it was General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin). Carmen and Sherman were married in 1953 and had one daughter Ann, who married Jim Berry, and had grandchildren Kristina, Angela, Jimmy, and Tina, and great grandchildren Michael, Mya, Mandy, Colten, Anthony, Maelie, Nolan, Marlo, and Laine. Carmen was a Planner for most of her career, an avid and competitive bowler, and valued family second only to her love for Christ. She loved to travel and to cook. But, most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and was highly respected by those close to her and her community. She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. She never knew a stranger and was kind to everyone. Her loss will be deeply felt because she was such a light in this world and a blessing to all.
