In 1945, he was just 16 years old when his father changed his birth certificate to say he was 18, so that he could enlist in the Lebanese Army. He later went on to serve as a police officer patrolling Beirut International Airport.
In 1975, Antoine moved his wife and 9 children to the United States to escape the war in Lebanon and opened Hedary’s Restaurant, which was to become an institution in Fort Worth. His culinary talent was unparalleled.
In his retirement years, he pursued his passion in the Thoroughbred horse racing business while also finding joy in the country life. Antoine will forever be remembered for his resolve, his deep love of family and his ability to find humor in anything.
He is survived by his forever love, Leila Hedary and his children, Joseph Hedary (Arlete), George Hedary (Elizabeth) , Fanie Tabet (Mouhib), Marios Hedary, Christine Hedary, Mariz Khoury, Frank Hedary, Clara Hedary and Liliane Garza (Marcus), along with his 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, brothers Charles Hedary (Ryan), Salim Hedary and a sister, Thérèse Hatem (Joseph).
He is preceded in death by his father, Youssef Salim Al Hedary and mother, Marie Moussa Khoury Abi Haila and siblings, George, Pierre and Georgette Hedary.
