Annabelle Ward Roberts

Born on March 25, 1934 to Harrell and Edith Ward in Melvin, Texas, Annabelle went on to accomplish many great things in her life. She grew up in Melvin and spent a lot of happy times on the family cattle ranch in Mason County with her grandparents and many cousins. From the beginning, family played an important part in Annabelle’s life. She met the love of her life Earl Ray Roberts at ACU and got married at age 19 in 1953. In 2016, Earl passed away. Together, they raised 4 children and had spent 63 wonderful years in marriage. Their legacy lives on in their children, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Annabelle taught middle school English and History, worked as an elementary school counselor, and as a marriage and family therapist. She loved helping others and was so loved and respected in her practice.

Many knew her as Ann and by many, we mean everyone knew her. She could be across the world and encounter someone that she knew. Not only was she respected and adored by all, she herself was a devoted wife, mother, loving family member, and a kind, sweet friend. During her free time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting and loved to travel. She traveled the world with her husband by her side. They visited countries from each continent, except Antarctica, and created memories that lasted a lifetime and will continue to be shared by her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harrell and Edith Ward; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Winfred Atwood; husband, Earl Roberts and son, Jeff Roberts.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Frier and Kathryn Akers; son, Kenneth Roberts; son-in-law, Vic Akers; daughter-in-law, Paulette Roberts; grandchildren, Austin Westfall, Taylor Westfall, Marshall Westfall, Bronson Akers, Mallory Fletcher, Brian Roberts, Blake Roberts, Chris Egan, Kelly Kopach, and Tim Egan.

A visitation will be held at Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, February 9 at 1:00 p.m. with a committal service to follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
