William "Bill" Simon

William “Bill” Simon, 82, of Fort Wayne passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Cedars of Leo. Bill was born May 8, 1942 in Mason City, Iowa to Irvin and Dorothy (Fitzgerald) Simon. Bill honorably served in the United States Marines and the Army National Guard. He worked many years as a lineman for IBEW Local 1393. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed teasing and telling stories. He enjoyed shooting firearms, hunting and was a firearm instructor and a member of several rifle clubs. He loved his German Shepherds, Bear and Bella. Bill is survived by a daughter, Anne Simon; a sister, Kathy Hoelscheer; extended family of 35 years, Tim Ramsey, Jim and Jennifer O’Day; Paula Phillips and many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving partner, Wanda Ramsey; daughter, Amy Simon and a sister, Sandra Palmerscheim. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home. 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46835. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorial donations in Bill’s name may be directed to St. Jude.
