WILLIAM J. SHANNON, SR., 66, from Convoy, Ohio, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at his residence. He was born April 14, 1947 a son of the late William and Marjorie Shannon. He graduated from Central High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a painter and then retired as shop foreman from Crumback Chevrolet. He was always known for his custom painting of cars and motorcycles, of which motorcycles were his passion. He said "On earth I painted flames; in Heaven I'll be painting angel wings". Surviving are his wife, Cindy Shannon of Convoy, Ohio; children, William J. (Danielle) Shannon, Jr., Karma J. (Todd) McClain, Donald E. Mentzer, and Julia R. (Joe Perkins) Kelly, all of Fort Wayne; siblings, Patrick (Deb) Shannon and Betty (Scott) Crosley, both of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, (IN 46809) with calling two hours prior. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Community Health Hospice. The family requests that Jeans and T-Shirts be worn to services.
