William Michael Gasper, 78, of Clayton, Ohio, formerly of Fort Wayne passed away peacefully at home on Sunday July 3rd, 2022. Born in Wells County, Indiana on January 13th, 1944, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Mary (Delaney) Gasper.
William (Mike) Gasper served as an Air Traffic Controller in the United States Air Force from 1964-1968 and was a member of the American Legion. Following Mike’s Service to his Country, he pursued several opportunities in the workforce as an entrepreneur and small business owner. Mike’s success in his career was driven by his motivation to serve with a tenacious heart. He was tenacious not just in his work, but in his relationships above anything else.
Mike met “Sweet Pea,” the love of his life, Carolyn Gasper, on July 14th, 1989 and the two became one in marriage on October 17th, 1992. Carolyn was the greatest pursuit of Mike’s life, and he was bold in his love and affection for her. Together, they’ve spent over 30 adventurous years loving, supporting, and caring for one another.
Mike is survived by his wife of more than 30 years, Carolyn (Boyles) Gasper; one Brother, Tommy (Phyllis) Gasper; two sisters, Betty Freeman, and Connie “Sue” Byers; a son, William “Bill” Michael Gasper II; two daughters, Lisa (Gasper) Pollock (Cindy Smithes) and Teresa (Gasper) Reber; Daughter, Tania (Mike) Maher; Step-Son, Wendell “Keith” Donley; and son, Doug Baker; grandchildren, Nicole McDougall, Jessica (Tim) Pollock, Brittany (Nic) Goldsberry, Logan (Maggi) Pollock, Jena Le (Jaelen) Brewer, Isaac Maher, Austin Maher, Elijah Maher, Morgan Donley, Ryan Donley, Mary Jo (Byron) Tallent; great-grandchildren, Skylynne Sharp, Boston Everett, Hudson Darnell, Kyla Gilbert, Landon Pollock, Ryder Gilbert, Emmy Gilbert, Emmaline Pollock, Theodore Goldsberry, Violet Zorica, Marcus Brewer, Aiden Passmore, & Autumn Passmore; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Minnie Gillenwater.
A funeral service to honor Mike's life will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2022, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
Pallbearers will be Doug Baker, Bill Gasper II, Kenny Gasper, Luke Gasper, Jay Boyles, and Craig Wiseman.
Honoring Mike Gasper, a memorial fund will be established to support the annual Children’s Christmas Drive.
