Vernon J. Adams

Vernon J. Adams, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed into the presence of his Lord on December 11, 2016. He was a member and past Treasurer of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He served in the Army Air Corp for 3 ½ years during WWII as a pilot in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. He volunteered as a Board Member and Treasurer for many years of Lutheran Homes. He was a CPA and was employed for over 30 years by Old Fort Industries and Hyponex Corp., retiring in 1987 as Executive VP. He is survived by his two sons, David, of Penn Valley, California and Dale, of Fort Wayne; brother, Albert, of Austin, Texas; and sister, Carol Ann Schellenbach, of Ocala, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara. Funeral service will be 11am, Thursday, December 22, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior, Pastor Mark Neubacher, officiating. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Wednesday, December 21, at the funeral home. Entombment in the mausoleum at Concordia Cemetery Gardens on Lake Ave. Memorial donations may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lutheran Life Villages, or Worship for Shut-ins.
