Stephen Earle Wilson was born July 8, 1959, to Earle Lawrence Wilson and Sylvia Malzene Beck in Gloversville, NY. Stephen married Rebecca Ann Gilbert in 1978, in Allentown, PA. They have two children: Heidi Marie Roschinger (spouse Travis) and Christopher Stephen Wilson (spouse Brittany). They have five grandchildren: Rachel, Noah, Faith, Grace, and Creed.
Stephen received a BA in Theology from United Wesleyan College in 1979 and received his Master of Arts in Ministry from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2009. He spent time at Drew University and Evangelical Theological Seminary working on his Master of Arts in Ministry.
He worked as a Senior Pastor in Pastorates to include West Golden Wesleyan Church (1979-1982), Kingston Wesleyan Church (1982-1984), Grace Wesleyan Church (1987-1990), SONlight Wesleyan Church (1987-1990), Greeley Wesleyan Church (1991-2016), and Dayspring Wesleyan Church (2017-2019). Other highlights include he worked as a Director of Student Recruitment and Church Relations at United Wesleyan College from 1984-1987. He also served as an Adjunct Professor at Bethany Bible College and Indiana Wesleyan University.
He wrote eight books throughout his career to include: (1) Romancing God: Restoring Your Spiritual Passion; (2) Travelers: Making the Most of Your Spiritual Journey; (3) Relationships 101: A Guide to Happier/Healthier Relationships; (4) Fit & Tied: 3 Priorities of Healthy Marriages; (5) Hello My Name Is Steve: A Devotional Daily Reader; (6) To Bind the Broken Hearted; (7) Real Life a Leadership Lessons: 101 Things They Don't Teach You In School; and (8) Coping: How Christians Handle Crisis.
Stephen and Rebecca were both committed to Christian ministry and service together. They traveled together and Stephen spoke at several church camps and served as a Church Growth Consultant for Strategic Church Growth from 2015 to 2021. Stephen was passionate about teaching the Word of God in a way that enables people to know and grow in their relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping Christian workers to serve more effectively, and coming alongside pastors and churches that need help and work to rejuvenate and redirect their ministries. Stephen Wilson was a speaker, teacher, educator, author, consultant, counselor, son, husband, father, grandfather, and devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
Stephen Wilson is survived by his mother Sylvia (Beck) Wilson; wife Rebecca (Gilbert) Wilson; siblings Colleen Derr and Deborah Walter; children Heidi (Travis) Roschinger and Christopher (Brittany) Wilson; and grandchildren Rachel, Noah, Faith, Grace, and Creed.
