Samuel Dee Grotrian, 57, of Fort Wayne passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024 next to the love of his life, Deanna Janelle Grotrian. He was born on August 23, 1967 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Beverly Sue Grotrian. His battle with esophageal cancer was a true testament to his courage and strength. Throughout his battle, Sam never strayed from being his protective, powerful self.
As a superintendent at The Hagerman Construction Group, his leadership and experience were evident in every job he completed. His ability to accomplish tasks under extreme pressure was representative of his constant perseverance in life.
From eating cheese toasties to taking long rides on his Victory, his love of life was contagious to those around him and something that fuels the ones he left behind to live life to the fullest.
He left behind in life to live up to his legacy his wife, Deanna; daughter, Chelsea Angeline Grotrian; six bonus children; ten grandchildren; and his brother's, Max Daniel Grotrian and Rodney “Joe” Grotrian.
According to the Oxford dictionary, the definition of dedication is “having single-minded loyalty or integrity”. For anyone who knew Sam, you saw this level of dedication to his family first hand. His commitment to those that he loved was unparalleled, even in the final days of his life.
His family and friends will honor his memory at a celebration of life on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Please reach out to a member of the family for details on the event.
Contributions in Sam's memory may be made to the Parkview Cancer Center.
