 Obituario de Rodney Antoine Harris
Rodney Antoine Harris (affectionately called Wolf) was born on June 28, 1962, to Mervin E. Harris and Earlene C. Harris in Bridgeport, Ct. Rodney was educated in the Bridgeport public school system. Rodney was a natural at sports, painting and considered a handyman by all who knew him. At a young age, Rodney enjoyed his numerous family summer vacations in Bassett, Virginia where he was exposed to many outdoor activities such as basketball, baseball, fishing, swimming, hunting, and racing cars with three of his close and loving male 1st cousins (Bobby, Kenny, and Ronnie). His love of food and making sure the food tasted the way his loving mother's did, always prompted Rodney to pick up the phone at any given time to call one of his sisters and ask, "what was that ingredient Mommie used to put in the dressing to make it taste so good". Rodney grew up in a community full of love and adventure. He enjoyed his family and his friends and loved catching up on the phone and reminiscing about the good old days in Bridgeport. Rodney excelled and loved all sports. He was a member of the Black Rock Little League, Gary Crooks Memorial Center and Bassick High School baseball & basketball team. Rodney's natural speed, agility and love of sports garnered him the nickname "Wolf" by his coaches, family, friends and his peers. In his later years, Rodney relocated to Ft. Wayne where he worked various jobs and most recently retired as a Material Handler at McCoy Bolt Works in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Rodney loved people and continued to maintain loving relationships with people he met throughout the years, not only in Bridgeport, but also in Ft. Wayne. One of his favorite sayings when he ended conversation with his homies and especially his younger sister Allison, was "Much Love". Rest Easy Rodney and may you rest in God's Everlasting Arms, "Much Love Rodney". Rodney (Wolf) gained his wings on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Rodney first true love was his loving and spirited mother, Earlene; his oldest daughter Rashea; his only son, Rodney Jr.; and his baby girl Al'Yson. His kids were his pride and joy. Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Mervin E. Harris, his mother, Earlene C. Harris, paternal grandfather James Harris, paternal grandmother Tina Drummond; maternal grandparents Alexander and Alice Cheatum. Cherishing his memories is his loving and devoted family: his daughters, Rashea Jones of Bridgeport, CT, and Al'Yson Harris of Ft. Wayne, IN, his son, Rodney Jones (Kareena) of Clarksville, TN; three sisters, Myra Beavers (Mark), West Haven, Ct, Veronica Harris, Vernon, CT and Allison Harris, Bridgeport, CT, and his adorable and beautiful grandchildren, Ra'zhane, Lauren, Rihanna, London, Zion, Rodney III, and Raya Jones. His paternal uncle Alvin Harris & paternal aunt Hortense Thompson (both of Greensboro, NC), a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. My Hero You held my hand when I was small. You caught me when I fell You're the hero of my childhood, and my later years as well And every time I think of you My heart still fills with pride Though I'll always miss you Dad, I know you're by my side In laughter and in sorrow. In sunshine and through rain I know you're watching over me, until we meet again Submitted by His Loving Children, Grandchildren & Family We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8 A visitation for Rodney will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Mungovan, 2114 S.
