Rev. Robert Nathan, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Parkview Memorial Hospital. Born on December 3, 1924 in Chicago, IL, he was a son of the late Harry and Dorothy (Haskell) Nathan. Robert was a Pastor with the First Assembly of God Church- Deaf Chapel for many years. He pioneered deaf churches in Akron, OH., Sacramento, CA., Flint, MI., and in Fort Wayne. Robert graduated from Gallaudet University in 1949 and from the Central Bible Institute, Springfield, MO., in 1953. He is survived by his grandchildren, Jonathan and Jennifer Nathan, both of Chicago, IL; nephew, Brian Giffin of Chicago, IL; and friend, Pastor Trent Netherton of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Fern (Rolfe) Nathan; son, Daniel Nathan; and sister, Betty Giffin. Funeral Service will be at 11:00am on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Burial at Westlawn Cemetery, Chicago, IL. Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Church-Deaf Chapel.
