Robert Gene Goble

Robert Gene Goble, born July 23, 1934 to J. Walter and Eleanor (Patterson) Goble. He graduated from Huntington High school in 1953. Throughout high school, he was on the swim team, coached by Butch Hummer, participating in the mile race each year held at Lake Clare. After graduating, Robert joined the Army serving during the Cold War and later joined the Army National Guard. Eventually he transferred to the 122nd Air National Guard retiring in 1994. He was employed with Tokheim Corporation, Parker Hannifin Manufacturing. He was a member of Calvary Temple Church, Resurrection Lutheran Church, The Air Force Sergeants' Association Chapter 779 and was he assistant Cub Master of Troop 303. Robert loved his fishing! He was up before the sun hit the water. If you weren't ready when he was, he would leave you behind. He enjoyed football and basketball, talking to the guys about cars, going to the zoo and park with the grandkids and family get-togethers. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cheryl of Fort Wayne; daughters, Gayle Green of Texas, Honnalea (Michael) Harris of Fort Wayne, Margaret “Peg” (Joseph) Wood of Huntington; sons, Bobby Goble of Huntington, James Goble (Mandy Ellsworth) of Portland, Chad (Angela) Monteith of Muskegon, Michigan, Phillip Goble (Tiffany Joy) of Columbia City; sisters, Nancy Mix and Karon Strong of Dearborn Michigan and Arlene Siddall of Fort Wayne; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Marilyn Goble and a daughter, Kathy Mishler. Visitation will be Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at C M Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 North Wells Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46808. The funeral service will be at 6:00 pm, following the visitation, Chaplain Karen Kosberg of Parkview Home Hospice will be officiating.
