

Richard L. Ervins, son of Evelyn Lee Ervins-Brintley and German Jim Brintley, was born on July 17, 1945, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Parkview Regional Hospice at the age of 79.
Richard was a devoted member of New Covenant Worship Center under Senior Pastor Luther Whitfield for over ten years. His faith was a guiding force in his life, shaping his values and relationships.
A proud graduate of Central High School in 1965, Richard excelled in athletics, participating in football, baseball, basketball, and track. His love for sports remained with him throughout his life. Beyond athletics, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and engaging with the CB radio community under the handle "Jesse James." However, music held a special place in his heart and was one of his greatest passions.
Richard dedicated forty years of service to B.F. Goodrich as a Foreman in Quality Control from 1969 until his retirement in 2009. His commitment to excellence and leadership left a lasting impact on those he worked with.
Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth N. Ervins, the mother of his three beloved children: Shawn Street (Royal), Vanessa Ervins, and Richard L. Ervins Jr. (Shawnese). He cherished his grandchildren—Brandon Edward Street, Bryant R.L. Owens, Deshawn McCloud, Brittaney R.L. Mackey, Jessica S. Street, Jazmyn Dene' Ervins, and Imani Sajae Ervins, as well as six great-grandchildren.
Richard's second wife, Dorothy M. Ervins, also preceded him in death, along with her children, Venetta Jackson, Francine Harvell, and Nicole McGinnis. He is survived by her children, Sheila Qusic, Lizzette Jamieson, Shandro Davis, Felisha Dunnigan (Clarence), and Frank Harvell (Paula).
Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Catherine Ervins. He also leaves behind his brothers, Walter C. Ervins (Glenda), and Bruce Ervins; in-laws, Robert Kelsaw (Alice), Richard Kelsaw, James P. Kelsaw (June), Sims Kelsaw, Janie M. Kelsaw, Sallie M. Kelsaw, and Bobbie J. Hill (Alvin) and special cousins, Erma Bateman and Shirley Green.
His brother, James Ervins and sister, Alberta Smith-Blue also preceded him in death.
His heritage lives on through a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and dear friends who will miss him dearly.
Richard’s legacy is one of faithfulness, dedication to family and work, and an enduring love for music and sports. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
