Ray David Boyer, 83, of Fort Wayne, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, was fully healed on the morning of November 3rd, 2021 as he went home to his Lord Jesus Christ. He was born on October 31, 1938, to Grace Katherine Heal of Grant County, IN.
David was adopted by Walter and Dr. Grace Beshgetoor Boyer of Marion, Indiana. His life was a picture of Grace from the very beginning, and he grew into a young man with a love for Christ Jesus and a vibrant, passionate mind. While at Taylor University, David met his beloved wife, Joanie. He became an attorney, although he thought of himself as more of a “counselor at law”, pledged to help people. Today there are countless people who have been blessed by his gentle, patient work. He never made a promise he couldn’t keep and never forgot a promise he had made. To that end he and Joan traveled the globe, sometimes with their four children and sometimes with friends and colleagues. David served on the boards of Brotherhood Mutual, Taylor University, Fort Wayne Bible College, Fort Wayne Christian School, and Brookside Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan, and their four children: Katherine (Tim) Coble, R. David (Anne) Boyer II, Beth Boyer, S. Thomas Boyer. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Abbie, Jake, Allie, and Addie Boyer. His surviving Siblings are: Robert (Mary Ann) Boyer, Joyce (Leland) Smith, Carol (Dave) Jones. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Boyer and Joseph Boyer.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Brookside Church (6102 Evard Road, Fort Wayne), with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 6pm on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home (6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne). Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
