I met Randy 45yrs ago at RVC Construction Trades class, we were of about a dozen who showed  up with a work belt ready to take on the world. We appreciated that experience, and spoke of it often. I remember when he bought his Maule Seaplane, man he was on cloud nine, he was truly in his element! What Randy and Allison did for the aviation and the community was wonderful. They will be missed in the skies and for all their efforts to help people. They were humble and kind in so many ways.
Thanks buddy for all you did, helping along the way with my aviation business. “Randy use to say, you can pave a thousand miles of roads, and you can travel a thousand Miles, but if you pave a mile of Runways, you can travel anywhere in the World!”

Randy and I worked together the first time in 2011 when I was leading IPFW’s Sculpture with Purpose project and Randy was our installation expert for 50 sculptural bike racks throughout Fort Wayne. When that finished in 2014, we continued working together on the exploratory committee to start what is now the City of Fort Wayne Public Art Commission. Then, we started running into each other at triathlons – he loved to fly in with Zach for the Warsaw sprint triathlon every June. Randy and I bonded over our shared determination (some would call stubbornness) to do things to the best of our abilities and desire to help others. No matter what I was working on I knew I could call Randy and he would help. He was a compulsive giver of his expertise and time to help others. At triathlons, he was fun, always enjoying the experience and people. I’m so thankful that I was able to call him friend. He understood me, and probably many other people, in a way that few do. My heart goes out to Randy and Allison’s families, Zach and Grace, and everyone at Strebig Construction. Randy and Allison will be missed.

Definitely a hard task to share 'a' memory with so many to choose from, but I feel this one is quite special to me- If it weren't for Randy and his love of my cooking, I would possibly not have had the over 20 year career in culinary endeavors.  He pushed me to cater his company Christmas party, that was my very first professional cooking gig. Thank you so much my dear old friend, I will miss cooking for you and seeing that smile. 🥲❤️🙏

We hear this often in a tragedy like we  are now experiencing and yet the words come rushing out as you share your stories and tell of your love and appreciation for Randy and Allison, I see after all there are words -and they mean so much.
We are shocked into our deepest parts and yet to learn how far and wide their love spread to their many, many friends warms our hearts. Randy and Allison can never be replaced but perhaps we will learn and follow their example for living to our fullest.
Randy was a close family friend.  He helped me start a business when I was long past the age of starting a business - such was his faith in people

We are forever saddened at the loss of our true friends Randy & Allison. They flew their Maule floatplane each year to visit us in Maine, stopping in Rangeley to spend the night before we flew together to Greenville for the seaplane fly-in. We became close friends and stayed in touch throughout the year, always looking forward to September when we were lucky enough to spend time with the awesome couple from Indiana. We competed head to head in the green vs. red Maules, with Randy teaching us the fine art of seaplane flying at its best. The world has lost two very special people and we will never forget their kindness and love for each other.

Randy was our landlord at 526 W. Jefferson for nearly 16 years.  In that time, he was instrumental in allowing our small business to grow.  He was always willing to allow us to keep adding square footage, rearrange, and move walls, and generally entertain the 10,000 ideas we had for the space.  I have appreciated and have been deeply grateful knowing that whenever I had an issue, big or small, Randy would always be willing to work with me.  While I didn't know Randy as much I would have liked,  I admired his dedication to non-profits, small businesses, and maintaining historic properties.  It is difficult to imagine being at 526 West Jefferson without him just a few feet away.  I am grateful for the assistance he not only gave to our space but to me as a business owner especially in the early years of owning a small business.  

Thank you, Randy, for your kindness and generosity in the brief moment in time that we knew each other.  Rest easy.

Randy was my friend and lake  buddy for over 30 years. Many afternoons we would just sit in his yard at the lake, and watch all the boats that came out of the channel as he was the last house at the end of the Jimmerson channel into James. Back then he had a German Shepherd named Rafter, because he got him right after he started his business. Rafter didn’t exactly like other dogs and would bark at every boat that went by with a dog in it. One afternoon Rafter swallowed a bee and swelled up in his mouth so that his only bark was a slight whisper woof. Randy and I laughed that that was the most peaceful afternoon we had ever had outside in his yard at the lake. There are so many more memories but I choose the ones that make me smile and laugh thinking about him. Fly high dear friend.  Lake James and I will miss you terribly

Dear Dale and Nadine,
So so sorry to hear of Randy and Alison's tragic deaths.  Both Ann & I, and on behalf of Ruth & Ozzie, extend our deepest sympathy.  Aunt Ruth and Uncle Ozzie talked often of the great neighbors they had.  And how they admired your children.   May God comfort you both, and your extended family, in this time of sorry.  I'm sure when Randy meets up with Uncle Ozzie, there will surely be a game of Gin Rummy soon to follow.

We are heartbroken...we had the blessing  of meeting Allison and Randy at the International Seaplane Fly-In in Greenville, Maine...many moons ago.  They became family.  We will always remember them for their adventurous spirits, generosity, infectious smiles, love for all humans and creatures.  Our hearts go out to all who knew and loved them.  They left a beautiful legacy. ❤️

Randy was good to the nonprofit community of Fort Wayne, serving on boards and committees of the Downtown Arts Commission and Fort Wayne Ballet, among others. For our DAC Family, he was fair, understanding, and consistent in being our neighbor and the owner of our little slice of downtown. There are very few nonprofits within the first five blocks of downtown, let alone with ample, free parking. Having the opportunity to have our office located in the old Roger’s Grocery store, now the Strebig Building, made DAC accessible to anyone working towards our mission to decrease the negative impact of substance use disorder on our community.  
In my time at DAC, Randy and his team helped us put in a lift (elevator), install beautiful new flooring, repaint everything, update fixtures, install (and re-install) shelves, cubicles, projectors, and flat screen televisions. I’m sure  my endless “daughter of a designer” office makeovers drove him crazy, but he rarely showed it. He’d shake his head and smile while listening to my ideas, and tell me how we could get it done. 
During one of these DoaD moments, we realized we were connected in another way. I mentioned my Grandpa, Bob Houser and his eyes brimmed with tears. He said to me then: “Your Grandfather is one of the best men I’ve ever known and he taught me more than I could say.” My Grandpa had passed away several years before, but Randy’s words brought Grandpa into the room. We both knew and loved the same great man and that made me appreciate him so much more. I am so very sorry for those family and friends grieving this immeasurable loss to our community.

Randy was a close friend to Joe and I. Every weekend without a doubt he would barefoot by the marina and then hop in the plane and buzz over the marina  just to say hello. We will dearly miss Randy and Allison both.

The Bell family has known Randy for over 30 years.  Abigail, my recent daughter-in-law, saw how it has affected myself, my wife Pam and my son Ryan.  She says it the best!

So honestly kind and helpful. My mother was given a ride at fly in. She is 99 yrs old my father was a pilot but passed away at 41-59 yrs ago. It really ment the world to my mother. Allison was her pilot. She in turn complemented the couple also with her caring and love for all. Such a terrible loss for our community. God must have needed good pilots.

I skied periodically with Randy.  Most people tend to admire athletes in their 20’s/30’s.   Randy was a true “athlete” that I admired at 60.  He was in better shape at 60 than 99.9% of people in their 20’s.  Business leader, athlete, accomplished pilot, friend to many, and just a regular guy.  Heaven’s gain is our loss.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Randy and his wife, he gave my wife and I a seaplane ride years ago. Tailwinds always Randy.

A true friend. I was so young when he rented me an apartment. but he became friends with me and our group of friends !  He and I were quirky people. That's what I remember. and he helped me out transitioning from renting an apartment to owning a home. Forever grateful.  May the Lord watch over you my friend.

42 years of friendship.  Memories are endless.  Long distance relationships are built on conversations and  trust.  Time together was so meaningful as it didn't  happen often enough.

Allison was so incredible.  My heart overflowed by their  marriage. His exact words “I feel grounded for the first time in my life”.

The man with the plane.
     I believe many of us can agree whether we knew this couple or not, many of us who traversed the waters of Lake James knew of the plane.  The plane on the cool platform in the water.  Growing up I fished the Lake James chain with my Dad and most of the time we went by the plane.  There was always this question “I wonder who’s cool plane that is”?  Man that is so cool.  Man you just never hardly see planes that go on the water.  Man that just must be cool.  Well fast forward to many years later I found myself at Pokagon State Park there, busy as heck, I came to soon find out what who was the man with the plane.  Randy walking around laying out every detail and guiding us all to our specific tasks of an event he created and hosted, Pokagon Triathlon. Only in time did i realize more about the man with the plane.  He and Allison’s amazing adventures both on land and in the air.  The flying, biking, swimming, fishing and oh yeah a damn good work ethic and business to go along with it.  In my short few times of working around Randy and Allison with the triathlon I really got a sense of something I didn’t really grasp.  The sense of living life to the fullest.  Doing what many people only dream of.  The various outreaches to simply make peoples and animals lives better.  Being in the presence of the man and woman with the plane(s) I quickly understand why success surrounded these two.  It’s so inspiring to see people reach out in so many ways and touch so many lives.  Yeah there were possessions, yes there was property but the real blessing in this is the light of these two that touched so many.  I can’t even imagine the stories that will pour in about this couple for mine came from only a few brief days over a few years.  God speed to you Allison and Randy for you made this world and those who knew you, if even for a brief moment, better.  I will never forget fishing Lake James seeing the plane fly and meeting the “Man with the plane”.
