Michael A. Dooley, 80, of Fort Wayne passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Michael was born June 20, 1941 in South Whitley, Indiana, a son of the late Kenneth and Mable (Baker) Dooley. He attended South Side High School. Michael worked at Smitty's Barbershop on Pontiac St. from 1950 to 1960; later he operated his own shop, Tower Barbershop on State Blvd.; and finally retired from Local 466 as a Projectionist. In his free time, he enjoyed sitting on his deck with his dog, Sophie, looking at nature including the lake. He also enjoyed traveling, going on a number of cruises. He will be remembered as a very generous man. Surviving family include his wife of 62 years whom he met in grade school, Sharon Dooley; daughters, Stacy (Jon) VanHorn and Molly (Paul) Brateman; five grandchildren, Chelsea (Josh) Conn, Jason (Jonathon Rowe) VanHorn, Cameron (Bre) Gallaway, Logan (Krista) Gallaway, and Samara Brateman; and a great grandson, Trace Conn. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his brother, Jack Dooley. There will be a visitation from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with a funeral service to follow beginning at 4:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
