Mary Lou Baker, 89, ended her earthly walk on February 3 and has joined her lord for eternal life in heaven. She was born in New Britain, Connecticut on April 3, 1932, and grew up at Klingberg Childrens' Home.
Mary Lou graduated from New Britain High School in 1952, then moved to Detroit, Michigan where she worked several years at an insurance company. She married Patrick Baker September 15, 1956. Mary Lou took classes at Detroit Bible Institute and her desire to serve the lord Jesus was evidenced as she led home Bible studies and directed children's choirs. She was a member of Christian Business and Professional Women, served churches in Detroit, Toledo, and Ft. Wayne and was a member of First Missionary Church of Ft. Wayne. Mary Lou was previously employed by Lindenwood Cemetery and Mungovan and Sons Memorial Chapel. She was also a volunteer at Hospice Home. Her family and friends were a treasure to her and she was a delight to all who knew her. She is survived by two grandsons, Steven (Karlene) Weier, and Ryan Weier; and her dear friend, Barb Coon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Baker; son, Steven Mark Baker; and daughter, Carolyn Weier.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, at First Missionary Church, 701 W. Rudisill Blvd., with a visitation beginning at 10:30am, one hour prior to the service. A visitation will also be held from 2 to 4p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary Lou's honor may be directed to First Missionary Church.
