Marilyn Jean Rousseau, 88, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at the Townhouse in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on May 6, 1933 Morristown, Indiana, the daughter of the late John Wilmer and Thelma Boyd Johnson.
Marilyn graduated Northside High School, class of 1951, and attended DePauw University and Indiana University. She was a charter member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, and held numerous leadership positions, including Bible Study Fellowship discussion, President of Associated Churches, Board Member of Toastmasters, Republican Workshop. Marilyn was a Girl Scout Leader and member of Phi Beta Phi, and was also a weekday Religious education teacher for Associated Churches. She lived her life serving God and others.
Marilyn loved to be with family and friends, play and create games. She loved to dance, read, create memory DVD's, and photo albums.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Mark Rousseau of Castle Rock, CO, Renee (Bill) Rousseau Fishering of Fort Wayne, IN, Denise (Mark) VanderHagen of Fort Wayne, IN, Suzanne (Mike) Hausfeld of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Michelle Rousseau, Brett Rousseau, Ryan Rousseau, Josh (Brenda) Kearby, Joe (Liz) Kearby, Andrew (Amanda) Kearby, Lauren Slyby, Mitchell VanderHagen, Nellie (Tom) Ault, Mya VanderHagen, Tony (Kasey) Hausfeld, Allie (Dane) Sanzenbacher, Amy (Alex) Hammond; 9 great-grandchildren, Ava Kearby, Addison Kearby, Analee Kearby, Aubrey Kearby, Anikah Kearby, Brittany Breidenstein, Lydia Slyby, Roland Slyby, Dominic Slyby; and a brother, John M. (Susanna) Johnson, of Tempe, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edwin James Rousseau.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 4700 Vance Avenue, Fort Wayne, with visitation beginning at 10:00am, until time of service. A visitation will also take place from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, April 29, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne. She will be laid to rest in Highland Park Cemetery.
