Kim Kimberling, 93, passed away peacefully at home in Florida on Monday, January 29, 2024, with family by her side. Kim was born in 1930, the daughter of Victor and Laura Whorten. She spent her childhood years in Arkansas and Missouri with her five siblings.
Kim attended school in Paris, Arkansas, where her family owned and operated the local roller-skating rink. She married Billy Kimberling in 1948 and moved to Chicago where their daughter Sandra was born.
Kim’s working life spanned various careers before she achieved the position of executive administrator in the automotive industry where she worked for 30 years. She retired in 1989 and moved to Bonita Springs, Florida, where she lived near her sister, Mary, and worked in the retail industry.
In 2003, Kim moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to live near family and continued to work in the retail industry until she retired again at age 80.
In 2012, Kim moved to Angola, Indiana, where she volunteered in the community and was surrounded by friends.
In later years, Kim moved to Michigan, where she lived with her daughter, Sandra (Robert) at Coldwater Lake during the summer months and enjoyed winters in Florida. She loved listening to music, decorating, and sunset cruises.
Kim is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Robert) Bowles; grandchildren, Karen (Andy) Brown and Monica (Dan) Kozlowski; great grandchildren, Olivia (Alex) Lewis, Trent, Jackson, Tori, Madison, Brody, and Lauren; great-great grandchildren, Oliver, Henry, and Samuel; and a community of friends. She is preceded in death by siblings, Marie, Mary, Hartsell, Boyd, and Jay; and grandson, Adam.
A memorial service will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home located at 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Saturday, February 17th from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Condolences and memories of Kim may be left online at www.greenlawnmpfh.com
