Kenneth L. Henry, Sr., 83, of Waterloo, Indiana passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 surrounded by his family
He was born August 11,1940 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the son of Robert and Vera (Peggy) Sherman, they both preceded him in death. On August 27,1958 he married his lifelong love, Carol, she preceded him in death in July of 2021 after a 63 year love affair.
Ken is survived by his three children, Kenneth (Marsha) Henry Jr. of Avilla, IN; Rebecca (Brian) Frye of Ft. Wayne, IN; and Robert (Melanie) Henry of Waterloo, IN; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Ken and Carol started a legacy of family and love that will carry on for generations to come. Ken loved his family above all else as well as his extended family of friends.
He was a retired truck driver and a former elected official and business agent of Teamsters Local 414 in Fort Wayne. He always found a way to help those in need his entire life either through his work or friendship. He was a mentor to many and enjoyed being known by his nickname “Pops”. His years of driving allowed him to visit virtually all of North America. His greatest joy however was his family, he loved and was very proud of each and every one of them. Over the last two years he struggled with losing Carol and often commented that he wanted to be with her. Dad, I know you and mom are now together and looking down over all you both helped create, all from a chance meeting at a scout camp almost 70 years ago.
