KAREN L. ANDERSON, 67, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 5. She is survived by her husband, Dan Hamblin, daughter Elizabeth Abigail Anderson, stepchildren Carrie and David Hamblin of Knoxville, TN and brother David Peters of Templeton, CA. Karen was born in Glendale, CA, and graduated from Whittier College with a BA in History and Theatre. She worked in costume design for companies in Hollywood and New York City, and first came to Fort Wayne with Disney on Parade. In Fort Wayne, she was founding director of ARCH, Marketing Director for St. Joseph's Hospital, and Parking Administrator for the City of Fort Wayne. In 1983, Karen was President of the Leadership Fort Wayne Charter Class and ran as a Republican candidate for City Council. She has served on the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, the Historic Preservation Review Board and the Metropolitan Human Relations Commission. Karen contributed her talents to the annual Fort Wayne Museum of Art Designer Show House, winning an award two times. For the last 25 years, she ran an antique business, traversing the country in search of the rare and wonderful. She was an ardent gardener and cook, and her family and friends benefited from her prolific knitting. Karen's memorial service will be at 11am, Saturday, May 12th at Plymouth Congregational Church, 501 West Berry.
