Jane Elizabeth White, 97, passed away April 11, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Ash T. and Dessie Ethel (Penrod) White. She received her Master’s degree in Education after graduating from Indiana University in 1939, and retired from the East Allen County School Corporation after 41 years as a teacher. She taught English and Latin at Arcola High School, New Haven High School, Village Woods Jr. High and Paul Harding High School. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the National Education Association, Indiana State Teacher Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma- Phi Chapter.
Surviving are her cousin Mark (Patricia) White of Lancaster, OH and dear friends James and Sondra Mergenthal. She is preceded in death by her brother Richard C. White.
Services will be held at 11am Tuesday April 15, with visitation 1 hour prior at the First Presbyterian Church in the McMillen Chapel 300 W. Wayne Street. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to First Presbyterian Church Music Series and Parkview Home Health & Hospice 1900 Carew St. Suite 6, Ft. Wayne, IN 46805.
