 Obituario de Helen May Solero
Helen May Solero, born December 16, 1931, in Huntington, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Marshall, Michigan. Born into a family of hardworking parents, Helen’s early years were marked by health challenges and the difficulties of growing up during the Great Depression. Her father, Alvin M. Biehl, owned a car repair shop, while her mother, Cora L. Biehl, worked in a factory. A dedicated and bright student, Helen graduated as valedictorian from Huntington Township High School in 1949. She went on to graduate summa cum laude with a BA from Huntington College in 1953. Her passion for education led her to pursue a long and distinguished career as a teacher. While teaching, Helen completed her MA at Ball State University during the summers. Over the course of her career, she taught in Rome City, Indiana, Chesterton, Indiana, and Los Angeles, California, before finally settling in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with her then-husband, Narciso Solero. In Fort Wayne, Helen taught English and Latin at Ben Geyer Junior High School and North Side High School, from which she retired in 1997. Over the years, she became known as a formidable and exacting teacher, renowned for her high standards and unwavering dedication to her students’ success. Helen was a longtime member of Headwaters Church in Fort Wayne, where she nurtured her faith and formed lasting friendships. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Cora Biehl; her older sister, Katherine Louise Biehl; and her ex-husband, Narciso Solero. She is survived by her sister, Sarah Borgman (Wakarusa, IN); her daughter, Elena Solero (Marshall, MI); her son, Narciso Solero (Falls Church, VA); as well as nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Funeral Service is 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2024, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes – Pine Valley, 1320 E Dupont Road, Fort Wayne IN with calling one hour prior. Friends and family will also be received 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the Funeral Home. Helen’s commitment to education, her unwavering standards, and her love for her family will remain her lasting legacy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
