H. Ruth Pickett, 96, of Fort Wayne, went to be in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Covington Manor. Born Dec. 12, 1915 in Fort Wayne, she was employed as a registered nurse for more than 30 years at Lutheran Hospital, serving 25 years in labor and delivery. She was a 1937 graduate of Lutheran Hospital of Nursing, former member of West Creighton Christian Church, member of First Christian Church and former member of Lutheran Hospital Alumni Association. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Bruce) Heffelfinger, of Churubusco; granddaughter, Laura; two great grandchildren, Hailey and Bryce; and sister, Gladys Squires, of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1988 and sisters, Evelyn Kimmel, Lois Gandy, Mabel McCoy and Madelene Hively. Funeral Service is 11:00 am Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 with calling one hour prior at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton Funeral Home, Wayne St. Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St. Visitation is 3-5 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials to First Christian Church or American Lung Association.
