Dr. Gary R. Pulfer, 74, of Churubusco, Indiana, passed away March 25, 2020 after a hard-fought battle with leukemia. He was born on July 7, 1945, in Shelby, Ohio to Amos John and Ethel (Sauder) Pulfer.
Dr. Pulfer graduated from Huntertown High School as salutatorian of the Class of 1964. Afterwards, he attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then went on to the West Virginia University School of Dentistry and graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. On August 11, 1968, he married Carol Kwiek. He practiced dentistry in Fort Wayne for 47 years and belonged to the American Dental Association, the Indiana Dental Association, and the Isaac Knapp Dental Society. Dr. Pulfer thoroughly enjoyed providing dental care to his patients and was known for his gentle touch. He actively served in the First Seventh-day Adventist Church, to which he belonged for most of his life.
Dr. Pulfer is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol; five children, Tracie (Duane) Gustrowsky, Dr. Brad (Angie) Pulfer, Lisa (Jeremy) Gustrowsky, Keith (Lindsay) Pulfer, and Drs. Ryan (Sheryl) Pulfer, and 14 grandchildren; two siblings, Joyce (Ferdi) Weber and Nancy (Dane) Rehil. Dr. Pulfer was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda (David) Lewis.

Dr. Pulfer will be laid to rest at Leo Memorial Park cemetery in Leo, IN, on Saturday, April 4, 2020. There will be a closed casket. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so between 1-2pm. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, there will be no visitation with the immediate family and a limit of 10 people at a time near the casket. Directors will be on hand to assist. There will be no future services. The family understands your concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus and encourages you to make safe choices.
