EDWARD W. BODKIN, 91, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015, at The Harbours of Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Edward was a World War II Army veteran serving in the 147 Engineering Corp. He was stationed in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe during the War. He worked with Rea Magnet Wire for many years before retiring in 1964. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion and the Fort Wayne Street Rod Association where he was known as the "Rod Father". Edward and his family were very active members and collectors in the Fort Wayne Street Rod Association. He was an avid bowler, having bowled a perfect game. Edward had the talents of being able to fix about anything. He loved his family and cherished his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Surviving are his children, Larry (Pam) Bodkin and Jan (Lee) Owens, both of Fort Wayne, Rita (Jim) Obergfell and Evelyn (Dave) Foust, both of New Haven; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, William (Joyce) McDevitt of Coldwater, Mich.; and daughter-in-law, Renee Bodkin of New Haven. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rose Bodkin; wife, Kathryn "Kate" Bodkin; son, Steven Bodkin; daughter, Delores Bodkin; and son-in-law, Garry Malott Sr. Service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling one hour prior. Pastor Gary Endersby officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
