Dorothy E. Shinn

Dorothy Elaine “Dottie” (Carrier) Shinn, 98 passed away February 9, 2019 in Indianapolis, IN. Dottie was born in Dixon, Ohio May 12, 1920, the daughter of Floyd and Florence (Clem) Carrier. After graduating from Convoy High School she moved with her family to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1940. She married Richard K. “Dick” Shinn, son of Mr. & Mrs. Russell Shinn. While Dick served in WWII, Dottie worked at the General Electric Co. and upon his return she became a homemaker and an exceptional mother. Dottie is survived by her daughter, Linda Jane Shinn, of Indianapolis, Indiana and son, Richard Gale Shinn of Rancho Mirage, California, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard, and two brothers, Paul and Ralph Carrier. There will be no visitation or funeral services for Dottie and burial will be private at Lindenwood Cemetery in Fort Wayne, IN. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial gifts be directed to the American Lung Association, American Heart Association or American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
