Carl Christian Scheib, 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born on March 17, 1921 in Ansbach, Germany; he was a son of the late George and Babette (Mehringer) Scheibenberger. Carl came to the US with his family in December of 1923. He was an All-City football player and graduate of North Side High School, Class of 1939. He married the love of his life, Pauline, on January 1, 1942. Shortly thereafter, Carl left to proudly serve his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was employed with the United States Postal Service for over 37 years; retiring in 1980. After retirement, he was also employed with Kroger for several years. Carl was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for over 50 years and was also a member of the American Legion Post 47. He enjoyed ice-fishing, fishing, golf and traveling. Carl was a good man who was deep in his faith and always wanted to do the right thing; he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his sons, David (Kathryn) Scheib of Warren, Ind., and Daniel (Debbie) Scheib of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Kimberly Coolman of Warren, Ind., Jennifer (Cody) Ankney of Franklin, Ind., and David (Shannon) Scheib of Ball Ground, GA; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Scheibenberger of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Poorman) Scheib; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Scheibenberger. Funeral Service will be at 11:00am on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Ave., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be from 5-8pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
