Betty Jean Burkhart, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home. Born November 14, 1930 in Cawood, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Euey and Sally (Mays) Bond. A graduate of Hall High School, Grays Knob, Ky., she was employed with Kroger Foods for nearly six years prior to having a family. In 1972, she began working at Maloley Brothers/Supervalu until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of Liberty Mills Church of the Nazarene for 60 years and enjoyed quilting and bowling. Surviving are her husband, Herbert Bernard Burkhart of Fort Wayne; children, Lana Burkhart of Fort Wayne, David (Michelle) Burkhart of Fort Worth, Texas, and Tim (Wendy) Burkhart of Churubusco; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Kay (Larry) Warf of Richmond, Ky., John Bond of Benham, Ky., and James (Carol) Bond of Goshen. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Bob Bond, Bill Bond, and Brenda Philpot; and great-grandson, Joshua Burkhart II. Funeral Service will be at 11:00am on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Liberty Mills Church of the Nazarene, 10621 Liberty Mills Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be from 3-7pm on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne. Burial at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne.
