 Obituario de Barbara Jean Huston
Barbara Jean Huston (nee Barkley), 93, a longtime resident of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away July 9, 2024, in Loveland, OH. Born on April 29, 1931 in Adams County, IN, she was the daughter of the late Garnet Estella Barkley (nee Cully) and Virgil Orlo Barkley. Barbara graduated from Monroeville High School and was then employed at Central Soya in Decatur, IN. She met Francis Huston at the pharmacy at which he was employed and later owned. Barbara was married to Frank from 1952-1998. During that time she was an active member of the Women’s Organization of the National Association of Retail Druggists (W.O.N.A.R.D.) and volunteered at the American Red Cross. She also worked at the pharmacy purchasing the jewelry and perfumes for retail sale. Barbara stayed busy with these activities while raising two daughters. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church for many years. As a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, her love, laughter, and kindness will be dearly missed. Barbara is survived by her daughters Roxanne Huston (Bethany Robinson) of Cincinnati, OH and Denise (Mark) Firestine of Hillsdale, MI; grandson, Patrick Firestine; great-granddaughter Madison Firestine; former sister-in-law, Sheri Huston; her dear friend, Phyllis Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Glennis Barkley; Lucile Lapp Lehman (Leonard Lapp; Fred Lehman); Virgina Perry (Monroe); brothers Chalmer Barkley (Ruth); Verlon Barkley (Mary Alice; Barbara); William Barkley; and former husband Francis Huston. Visitation will be held at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home – Maplewood, 4017 Maplecrest Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46815 on Saturday, July 20, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Service will follow at 1:00 PM with burial at Monroeville Memorial Cemetery, State Road 101, Monroeville, IN 46773. Memorial donations in her honor may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association Indiana Chapter, 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209.
