Aurora Morales

Aurora Morales, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, in Fort Wayne. She was born December 20, 1939, in Laredo, Texas, the daughter of the late Ildefonso and Petra Vasquez. Aurora was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church on Brooklyn Avenue in Fort Wayne. Aurora’s most favorite pastime was bingo and she was an avid player. When you saw her, chances were she had a bingo dabber in her hand, and if not there, it was definitely in her purse. She was a kind, loving mother and grandmother. She loved her sons and grandchildren. She always made sure her grandchildren knew home was where she was, and it didn’t matter if it was three PM or three AM—her side door was always open for them. From the words of her grandson, Juan, “the birthday cupcake never needed a candle because her love and smile was flame enough.” Aurora’s grandson, Matthias, would like to acknowledge that their family chain has been broken, and nothing will ever be the same, but we will honor her beautiful memories she has left with us all. Aurora is survived by her children, Mario (Jacqueline), Javier (Michelle), and Juan Armando, all of Fort Wayne, Zaragosa (Nakiea) of TX, Oscar (Morgan) of Huntington, IN; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Francisco (Virginia) Vasquez. Sisters in law Quirina Vasquez, Eloisa Vasquez and a special niece, San Juanita. In addition to her parents, Aurora was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Morales Sr. in 2018; sons, Jesus Morales Jr., and Reynaldo Morales; siblings, Juan, Gilbert, Ildefonso Vasquez; and a great-grandson, Antonio “Baby Rico” Morales. A funeral service to honor Aurora's life and legacy will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Gary Griffin will be officiating. A visitation will also take place on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. Memorial donations in her honor may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
