Verla M. Crisp (née Holcomb), 93, died Thursday, January 4, 2018, in Fort Smith. She was born January 8, 1924, in Pueblo, Colorado, and married Hugh Crisp in 1945 in Amarillo, Texas. Because of Hugh’s Air Force career, they lived in many locations around the world, including Japan, Newfoundland, and Germany. Verla was known for her warm, vivacious character, passion for knitting, and deep love of family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Alan Crisp of Santa Rosa, California; and daughter, Alda Rae Epperson of Fort Smith; her grandchildren, Rob Epperson of Fort Smith, Karen Cook of Yukon, Oklahoma, Ryan Crisp of San Diego, California, and Regan Crisp of Portland, Oregon. She also was blessed with four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Crisp.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. Interment will be in the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Cremation and services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
