Linda Evelyn McMillan, 79, of Fort Smith, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus early Sunday morning, September 11, 2022. She was a member of Greenwood First Baptist Church. Linda was born October 6, 1942 in Palestine, TX to James Derral and Edress Neal Nations.
Diagnosed with Parkinson disease in 1985, when she was only forty-two, she leaned on her strong faith in God and support of many friends and family to live her life to the fullest. Linda worked at St Edward Mercy Hospital for twenty years and was active in the church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, worked with ESL tutoring group and the deaf ministry.
We will lovingly remember her contagious smile, witty comments, and her love for her friends and family. She leaves this verse with us from 2 Timothy 1:7, “for God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.”
She is preceded in death by her parents and her youngest son Steven McMillan.
She is survived by her sister, Janet Ransom; her sons, Stan McMillan and wife Niane, Scott McMillan and wife Emma; Steven’s wife, Christy, and a niece, Staci and her husband Howell Schmidt. Linda has six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held at Eastside Baptist Church Chapel in Fort Smith. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 AM with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 AM, Thursday, September 15, 2022.
