Larry N. Parker, 73 of Fort Smith, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024. He was born on April 22, 1951 in Paso Robles, CA to the late Ernest and Flossie Crowden Parker. Larry was retired from Whirlpool and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served in the bus ministry, and was a member of the “Meatlovers Sunday School Class,” as they went to the meat of the Word of God in their studies. He loved to read his Bible, and he loved art, writing and reading many books.
Larry loved his family. He never missed a family gathering, if he could help it. He was always the life of the party, and he had a unique sense of humor. He loved to travel, he and Brenda (Queen Bee) traveled many places together. Brenda was the love of his life. He had a big heart for soul winning. Larry worked with the homeless and loved getting the bus kids to church every Sunday. He was one of a kind!!
In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by an infant brother, Vernon Lee Parker and a special nephew, William “Grasshopper” Kern.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, of the home; four sisters, Carolyn Pruitt (Larry) of Sallisaw, OK, Cathy Sheeler (Mel) of Henderson, NV, Marie Arnold (John) of Charleston, AR and Betty Parker (Rick) of London, AR; one brother, David Parker (Tonya) of Driggs, AR. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
Funeral Service will be 11:30 AM Thursday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Matt Passmore officiating. Interment will be at at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Adam Pruitt, Gordon Pruitt, Scott Cupp, Bryan Friemel, Justin Parker and Jeff Foss.
