Laney L. Shaffer, 67, of Muldrow died Saturday, January 24, 2015, in Fort Smith. He was born March 29, 1947 in Akron, Ohio. He was a retired lineman with OG&E and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved God’s amazing creation and taught his family how to get out and enjoy the outdoors. He is survived by a daughter, Dawn France and husband Buck of Hackett; five sons Shawn Shaffer and wife Nicole of Lavaca; Jess Shaffer and wife Jessica of Greenwood; Adam Shaffer and his wife Christine, Dana Brewton all of Fort Smith; and Damon Brewton of Barling; a sister, Karen Krebs of Ohio; two brothers, Gary Shaffer of Barling and Terry Shaffer of Bella Vista; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mom and dad Harold and Dorothy Shaffer of Ohio. Pallbearers will be Jess and Adam Shaffer, Dana Brewton, Buck and Brandon France, and Nick Robbins. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Victory Temple in Fort Smith with burial at Steep Hill Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will be wearing camo and hunter orange to honor Laney’s love for the great outdoors.
