Judy Linda Hodges of Fort Smith, Arkansas took her last breath on this earth somewhere around 8:30 on Sunday morning July 15, 2017 in her home. Judy was born on May 22, 1945 to her parents, Lewis and Viola Nevels all of Fort Smith, Arkansas. After 20 plus years, Judy retired from Riverside Furniture and she was then able to travel the world with the love of her life and best friend Michael Hodges. They wed on January 12, 1985 and began serving God at Bloomer Baptist Church under the direction of Richard Goodrum. They later moved their membership to Grand Avenue Baptist.
Judy is preceded in death by her son, Robert Womack; her brother, Randy Nevels; and a sister, Margaret Cotton. Judy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband and best friend of 32 years, Mike Hodges; one daughter, Crystal McKesson and husband Exodus McKesson; three step-sons, James and wife Deborah Hodges, Michael Galen and wife Brenna Hodges and Robert and wife Rachel Hodges. Grandma Judy will forever remain in the hearts of her many grandchildren, Jamachia and Taja McKesson, Tyler, Alex and Ethan Hodges, Allyson Hodges, Brennan, Jordan and Taylor Hodges. She also leaves behind one living brother, Lloyd Nevels; and a sister, Mickie Pittman. Judy leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews she will forever love.
Judy's home going celebration will be held on Friday July 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. All flowers and acknowledgements can be made to Edwards Funeral Home. Pastor Richard Goodrum who married Mr & Mrs. Hodges's many years back will share some words during the service.
