Jeff Brown 60, of Fort Smith, AR formerly of Prairie Grove passed away on July 24, 2020. He was born November 30, 1959 in Grove City, PA to Roger Brown and Carolyn Crider Brown. He was a member of the Westark church of Christ.
Jeff’s family moved to Southern California when he was about 3 years old. He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time at the beach while growing up. In high school, Jeff was a star athlete, playing basketball, football and throwing shotput. He played football in college and graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK where he met his wife, Donna. They married in 1984 and had one son, Spencer, born in 1993. Jeff’s college degree was in Industrial Safety and he spent more than 30 years working as a safety director for various companies. Jeff and Donna made their home in Prairie Grove for almost 30 years before moving to Fort Smith in July 2019 after retirement to make their home closer to Spencer and his wife Darsey.
Jeff loved his family and was happiest when spending time with them. He was a wonderful Christian husband, father, son and brother. He enjoyed traveling and had traveled to almost every state. After retirement, he and Donna spent the winters in their RV in south Texas. After returning home from Texas in the spring of 2020, Jeff became ill and was subsequently diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma cancer that had metastasized to his lungs, liver, bones and brain. Although he fought a good fight, he did not suffer long before God called him home.
Jeff will be remembered as a patient, loving person who had a beautiful smile and personality, and was a gentle giant to those who knew him. His love for family and his friendship to others will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
