Jeanne Louise Atkinson

Jeanne is survived by her daughter Vicki Long and her husband Robert of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Sam and Sarah Long, both of Fort Smith; her niece Renee McClintock of Athens, Texas; a nephew Farris Conditt and nephew-in-law Merced Martinez, both of Malakoff, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert “Bob” Atkinson, her sister Barbara Allen of Malakoff, and a niece Katrina Martinez.

Jeanne was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved taking care of others. She was working as a nurse when she helped a patient who later became her husband. She loved Jesus, her church, and her church family. She loved animals and was a goat farmer for many years. She was a volunteer at a local food pantry. She was an avid bowler for over 50 years. She also enjoyed playing bridge and dominoes with friends. She was the valedictorian of her high school graduating class.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 2:00pm at Frost Cemetery in Frost, Texas. Andy Glenn, preacher at Malakoff Church of Christ, will officiate. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Malakoff Church of Christ, P.O. Box 395, Malakoff, Texas 75148.
