Hoyt was an Air Force Veteran, he was retired from the Fort Smith Police Department, and the Sebastian County Sherriff’s Department, and he worked for the U. S. Marshall’s Service.
He was a certified pilot , and he enjoyed going to the lake, woodworking, and he enjoyed building guns, and making reloads. Hoyt loved to tinker and he loved to remodel houses.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Diane Smotherman; and siblings, Carolyn Rogers and Faye Earls; and his son-in-law, Tom Moe.
He is survived by his daughter, Angie Moe; his son, James Smotherman and wife Julie; his sister, Beverly Denham; grandchildren, Derrick Smotherman, Tyler Smotherman, Ryan Smotherman, and Robert Moe; great-grandchildren, Brently Smotherman, Mikayla Johnson, , and Blake Smotherman.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 2 – 4 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be 12 Noon Monday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Fort Smith National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Robert Moe, Blake Rogers, Tyler Smotherman, Matthew Morison, John Goff, and Jared Wayne.
