Donald Ray Dennis, 78 of Fort Smith passed away January 27, 2015 in Fort Smith. He was born July 4, 1936 in Pauls Valley, OK to John Henry and Lucy Beaty Dennis. He graduated from Paoli Oklahoma High School in 1953. He is a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Old Fort Gun Club. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing. In 2005 he was inducted into the Fort Smith Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Don retired from Southwestern Bell with 33 years of service.
A Rosary will be held at Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith at on Thursday, January 29 at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Smith on Friday, January 30 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jo Ann; his daughters Donna Collie (Jack) of North Little Rock, and Patricia Clark (Jay) of Greenwood and one son; Kenny Dennis (Colleen) of Russellville; three grandsons, Taylor and Christopher Price and Austin Dodson, and four granddaughters; Sarah Wankum, Michelle Brown, Emily Dennis, and Ashley Laster. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren; Lorelei Benjamin, Anne-Marie, and Lucy Wankum, Brooklyn and Landon Brown, Peyton Corbit, and Dalli Laster. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Larry Dennis and daughter Cynthia Dennis and grandson Drew Price.
Pallbearers will be Taylor and Christopher Price, Austin Dodson, Craig Rivaldo, Jerry Denton, and Frank Hug, Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be James and Shane Hughes.
