She was born May 29, 1936, in Fort Smith. She was a proud member of the Fort Smith High School Class of 1954 and the Sparks School of Nursing Class of 1957.
DeLois married Dan Carter Crawford on September 1, 1957. They were married 62 years at the time of his passing in 2020. She missed him every day.
As a registered nurse, DeLois spent her career caring for others. She worked as a private scrub nurse for Dr. Harold Mings and Dr. Robert Janes, supervised the operating room at Sparks, and retired from St. Edward Mercy Medical Center as the supervisor of the sterile processing department. She was an accomplished photographer and an avid birdwatcher.
DeLois was preceded in death by her husband Dan, her father James Whitson Evans, her mother Gennievie Mae Horne Evans, her sister Linda Evans Lively, and her sister Cassandra Evans Wagoner.
She is survived by her son Jeffry and his wife Tammy of Spiro, her daughter Jennifer Goodson and her husband Derek of Fort Smith, her five grandchildren: Daniel, Victoria, and Emily Crawford and Casey and Cody Goodson, and her great-grandson Salem Carter Crawford
When you think of DeLois, remember her fun personality, her love and devotion to her family, especially to Dan, and that her name was DeLois – not Delores, not Lois, not De Lois -- and whatever you do, don’t forget the capital L.
There will be no service. Family will visit with friends on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 5:00-7:00pm at Edwards Funeral Home.
