Carl Tinder, 86, passed away July 2, 2013 at Methodist Health and Rehabilitation. He was born May 30, 1927 in Fort Smith to Pete and Marjorie Tinder. Carl was a Licensed Funeral Director and was employed by Edwards Funeral Home for 60 years with the exception of being stationed in Germany, while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He also owned and operated Tinder Conoco at 21st and Dodson. He was a member of the Fort Smith Antique Auto Club, American Legion, U.C.T., Belle Point Lodge #20, and he was also a member of Spradling Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Wilma Moses and Kathleen Tinder. Carl is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth; nephews, Buster Sharp and his wife Karen, and Gary Moses; special niece and nephew, Susan Billingsley and her husband Ken; his adopted family, Bill and Karen Hollenbeck and their children, Claire, Grace, and Matt. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Lola. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, July 5, 2013, in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ron Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Fort Smith National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Kaelin, Joe Caldarera, Larry Porter, Steve Holmes, Leroy Casalman, and Jim Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Edwards, Fentress, and Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Homes, and members of the Fort Smith Antique Auto Club.
