Brenda Kay Rowland was born on September 21, 1956 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Floyd and Peggy (Hays) Rowland. On April 12, 2024, she took the "Trip of a Lifetime" from her earthly home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to her eternal heavenly home. We are sure that Brenda, with her love of music, joined the Heavenly Jam Session on the piano with her family. Brenda grew up in Woodland Hills Pentecostal Church in Roland, Oklahoma and later attended First Assembly of God in Van Buren, Arkansas where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for several years before moving away from the area.
Brenda graduated as Salutatorian of her class from Roland High School, and earned several degrees from American College of Commerce, Westark Community College and the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. She worked in various nursing homes in the accounting department and trained many bookkeepers across Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. At the time of her passing, Brenda (a proud member of the Cherokee Nation) worked as an accountant for Cherokee Nation Businesses. While working there, she met many co-workers who became life-long friends whom she considered her second family.
Brenda was preceded in death by her Dad: Floyd Rowland, grandparents: Jess and Mable Rowland and J.H. and Lyda Hays.
She is survived by her Mother: Peggy Rowland, Sister: Becky Mankins and husband Kenny, and Nephew: Zac Mankins, all of Fort Smith, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
A visitation will be held on Thursday April 18th from 5-7 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
Funeral will follow on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Eddie Morton, officiating. Burial will be in Roland City Cemetery, Roland, OK.
