Billy Richard Marts I

Billy “Bill” Richard Marts I, 74, of Fort Smith, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013, in Fort Smith. He was born January 21, 1939 in Fort Smith to the late James L. and Jewell E. Taylor Marts. He graduated from Fort Smith High School now Northside High School. He began selling tires in 1955. Bill and his wife owned several businesses including a Restaurant, Convenience Store and in 1995 built Scott County Tire in Mansfield where they still operate the business. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Fort Smith and served in the Army National Guard. Graveside Service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Forest Park Cemetery with Dr. Charles Armour officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Bill is survived by his wife of 34 years Carol of the home, daughter and son-in-law Chelsea and Michael Johnson of Mansfield, AR and granddaughter Khloe Johnson of Mansfield, AR. He is also survived by daughters Pam and Gina Marts of Hot Springs, AR, son Billy Richard Marts II of Fort Smith, AR and grandson Billy Richard Marts III of Fort Smith, AR. Survivors also include brother and sister-in-law Jack and Mary Marts of Fort Smith, AR, sisters Etta Jo Allen of Fort Smith, AR and Jan Malone of Little Rock, AR along with several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be J. W. Holmes, David White, Billy Richard Marts III, Lyndell Sharp, Ronney Silvey and Dave Otto. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
