We are sorry for your loss.   Bill was the best neighbor.  He loved working in his yard.  We would see him on his riding lawnmower even  when we knew he was sick.  We loved all of his stories.  He always talked about his family.  We could hear all of his jazz music coming from over the fence in the evenings.  He was a great guy! I have so many great memories. I remember how I always wanted to spend the night at Momo and Papa's house. Momo would beat me in a game of double solitaire and then Papa would make me a milkshake and set me in his lap and tell stories and jokes. I was never bored when I was there. He was best Papa. I will always miss you 

I can’t even express how much you will be missed.  I’ll always remember the weekends we spent in Ft Smith with you and momo, Christmas there and St Louis, the trips we took together, and the stories you always  had.  I’ll always remember the jokes, like rocket man, and watching football games.  But you are the start of the Pope family and all the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, a family I’ll
Forever be grateful for.  I love you and will miss you, Papa.  

PaPa, you always said that family was the most important thing in the world.  Well, you should be very proud of your family.  Peggy, Missy, Cindy, and Bo have been working so hard getting together a celebration of your life.  All of your kids most of your grandkids and some of your great grandkids are going to be at your home.  The home that you loved and was so proud of.  PaPa I just wanted to thank you for all the good memories that I have of you and most of all for my wife Peggy.  I know you and MoMo are looking down on us and at the celebration you will say “mom look at what we started”.  Rest In Peace PaPa we love you.

I always remember being so excited to see PaPa growing up. I used to follow him with my toy lawn mower, had his great milk shakes, and jumped on the trampoline when we visited in the summer. He made Christmas special every year. I'll never forget those times. He was the best grandfather and helped make my childhood special. I'll always remember and love you. 

I’ll always remember the summers and Christmas’s spent in fort smith.  Papa and momo are a major part of my childhood memories.    I could never wish for a better childhood and they were one of the main reasons.  I don’t have to think too hard to find a memory that will make me laugh and smile.    I’ll miss you papa!  

My dearest Papa, 
  The world will never truly know how much you will be missed by me. I was your retirement baby and we spent so much time together creating memories I will hold in my heart forever. 
  Thank you for picking me up late at night when mom and dad were “mean to me”. Thank you for giving me donuts after school and being there to pick me up when i didn’t feel well. You were always there when i needed you and even when i didn’t. 
  Thank you for your guidance and advice. Your warm hugs and kisses, and whispering to me “you’re my angel” are just a few things i’ll miss the most. This life will be forever be changed without you in it. You were my hero, and my Papa. I love you with all my heart, forever and ever.

Missy and the rest of he Pope clan. It tears my heart to see that your father has passed. I have many, many fond memories of him especially when he shared time with Charlie and me.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you and all the other members of the families.

So many tears. Tears of sadness for us left behind. Tears of laughter and happiness for all the memories and time shared with you. From legendary Christmas celebrations to the best summers a kid could imagine. I love you, I miss you, and I’m so very happy you are finally reunited with our sweet Momo for eternity. I toast to you a Bloody Mary until we’re together again! Thank you for the memories and for instilling in all of us such strong family values that will continue for generations.  

I have a lot of memories with "papa," some of them my own, and some that I feel like I lived because Lance talked about them so often and with such love and fondness. He loved (and loves) his grandfather, and cherishes the times he was able to stay with his grandparents. One of our favorite photos from his babyhood is his papa holding him, laughing with what is obviously great love and joy. 

I was always so moved at his Christmas morning prayers, the love he showed his children and his grandchildren, and the way he welcomed me to the family with warmth and kindness. 

I know there is a great sadness now, over the family, I will leave a beautiful poem that speaks to my heart, and I hope, to yours. 


Death Is Nothing At All

I probably can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday, but I can vividly remember that Bill (Mr. Pope as I called him) taught me to drive a stick shift car.  We drove to an area in Tulsa near the Arkansas River (believe Peggy was with us), where there were no cars or people in the area.  He was the most patient and trusting man -- not sure I would have done what he did -- teach a young person to drive a stick shift, and then have me drive back home -- but he did!  He was a wonderful man, and I was able to re-connect via phone just a few years ago.  We talked about that day when I was a teenager, and he even invited me to stop by and see him if I was ever in the area.  You don't always remember folks in your past, but he was a remarkable and memorable individual, and very family oriented, who I have never forgotten after all these years!  Prayers to the family and friends at this difficult time.
