Hector was born and raised on a farm in the St. Paul area. This upbringing provided him with a tenacious and determined personality that ensured he never let any of life’s challenges hold him back. These characteristics along with a lifelong passion for anything with an engine allowed Hector to spend his working life in places he truly felt at home such as semi-trucks, backhoes, and bobcats. A dedicated provider for his family, Hector demonstrated his love by ensuring those around him had everything they needed. This devotion and care was always extended to his beloved four legged companions. As he got older, Hector found joy in the simple things in life, a long drive down a country road, a good hearty meal and an evening spent socializing with family and friends. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
Left to cherish Hector’s memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Lena; his furry companion, Kelly; daughters, Jackie (Ronan) and Donna (Greg); grandchildren, Tanisha-Lynn, Leon (Mary) and Tyrel; siblings, Albina (Richard), Clarisse (Jacques), Paul (Cathy), Bernard, Gilles and Raymond (Sandy) as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Hector was predeceased by his infant son, Roger; parents, Germaine and Emile; brother, Gerald; sister, Doris and his brother-in-law, Leon.
After a lengthy and hard fought health battle, the family owes their immense gratitude to so many medical professionals who assisted them. A special thank you goes to Dr. Somani, Dr. Ramesh, Dr. O’Reilly, Strathcona and Fort Saskatchewan Emergency services, the staff of units 43 and 44 of the Royal Alexandra Hospital and finally the staff of Units 5D and 5G at the University of Alberta Hospital for their dedication, compassionate support and phenomenal care in his final days.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services – Riverview Chapel, 11090 86 Avenue, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta with Reverend Carlos Nunez officiating.
