On Friday, June 21, 2024, Edna Kollman of Balcarres, Sk. passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in the Indian Head Hospital. Edna was the 7th child of 9 children and was the last living Kollman from parents of John and Rose Kollman. (The 9 children: Anne Sawyer, Tillie Gallaway, Evelyn Dockray, John Kollman, Elizabeth Luscombe, Rose Luscombe, Alvin Kollman and Marion Shaw).
Edna grew up on the farm north of Balcarres and attended Violette School by horse and buggy in summer and horse and cutter in the winter. School, church, catechism, and her farm chores were her life until she finished school and moved into Balcarres to care for her mother who became ill. Edna’s mom passed away in 1971 so she started working at the local grocery store until 1983 when her other sister became ill and then Edna cared for her.
Throughout the years she never married or had any children but has numerous nieces and nephews who would stop in for a tea and to say "Hi". She loved her family and enjoyed company and you would always find her on the couch doing puzzles, crosswords or watching her favorite game shows on tv. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A private graveside service will be held in the Balcarres Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made in memory to Diabetes Canada, 919B Albert Street, Regina, SK S4R 2P6 or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Sask., 1738 Quebec Ave. Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
