Carol was born on January 27, 1942 in Penzance, Saskatchewan to Jacob and Mary Klein. As a small child she survived rheumatic fever, which weakened her heart but not her strength of spirit and character.
After attending Parkhill one-room country schoolhouse and Craik school, she finished high school in Chamberlain before moving to Regina and working as a secretary for SaskPower.
In 1966, she married Donald Horsman of Fort Qu’Appelle. They had two children in Tanzania and two more children after returning to the family farm in 1974.
Carol loved the farm, her garden, and most of all her family. She was an independent thinker who never feared going her own way.
Carol is survived by her husband Don, big sister Joyce Schuett, four children, and ten grandchildren. They include Laura (Derek Jorgenson) and grandchildren Ben and Will; David (Allanna) and grandchildren Jesse, Kylee and Avery; Geoffrey (Rebecca) and grandchildren Ian, Molly and Clare; Jonathan (Christine) and grandchildren Neil and Jane.
A come and go tea to celebrate Carol's life will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Fort Qu'Appelle Seniors Recreation Center, 420 Broadway Street West, Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan.
