Born in Watertown, NY she has been a resident of Fort Pierce, FL. for the past 20 years, formerly of Manorville, NY.
Prior to retirement, she worked as a supervisor for Grumman Corp. for 25 years in Long Island, NY. During World War II she worked as “Rosie the Riveter” with the New York Air Brake, Watertown, NY. She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church, Fort Pierce, FL. Dorothy was an avid bowler into her 90’s and enjoyed traveling, bingo and the casinos and as a young woman she played basketball and golf.
Survivors include, husband of 21 years, Thomas Wilson, of Fort Pierce, FL, son, Thomas Wilson, Jr., of Coram, NY, daughters, Patricia Ganzi, of Seaford, NY, and Barbara Weaber, of Front Royal, VA , sisters, Ruth Rushnell, and Betty Hayslett, both of Watertown, NY, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 26 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband of 35 years, John Bieler and 6 brothers and sisters, Daniel Allen, William (Pat) Allen, Frances Curtis, Kathleen Martin, Margaret Allen and Rosemary Gerstenschlager.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce, FL from 3:00-6:00pm, with a wake service at 5:00pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, Fort Pierce.
