William (Bill) J. Wolfe was born to Martha and Allen Wolfe on January 4, 1923 in Wilmington, Delaware. Bill was the oldest of three children: brother, Allen Wolfe (deceased); and sister, Charlotte Daum. At the age of 19, he joined the United States Navy to fight for his country in World War II. His service took him to Jacksonville, Florida where he met his wife, Wilma (Betty) L. Wolfe. They were married on December 26, 1945. The couple resided in New Castle, Delaware where they raised their three sons: William F., Robert L., and Daniel L. Bill worked at Sears as a maintenance engineer; and in 1973 he and Betty moved to Cape Coral, Florida where he continued his career at Sears. He retired in September 1987. His wife, Betty, passed in April of 2001; and Bill continued to reside in Cape Coral.
He is survived by Charlotte Daum (sister); Helen Shuford (sister-in-law) and Glenn Shuford (brother-in-law); William (son) and Andrea (spouse); Robert (son) and Vicy (spouse); Daniel (son) and Charlene (spouse); grandson Robert Wolfe; and granddaughters Lauren and Timothy (spouse) Willison and Melissa and Michael (spouse) Marino; along with many nephews, nieces, and extended family members.
Bill loved watching sports; especially football, baseball, and NASCAR. He was a man of faith, who loved his family.
Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, Florida 33913 on Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 1:00-2:00PM with the funeral service to immediately follow at 2:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.
